WELCOME TO ITALOFILE

An Italophile is a lover of Italy, an admirer of Italian customs, traditions, and food. With Italofile, I wanted to build a resource — a file, as well as a bit of wordplay — where I could share my knowledge of and passion for Italy travel, art, culture, and living.

ART & ARCHITECTURE

From ruins in Rome to museums in Milan. From frescoes in Florence to vaporetti in Venice. Italofile explores all types of travel throughout Italy’s cities and regions, including more than 50 UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

A big focus of traveling in Italy is, of course, the art. Learn how to see masterpieces by Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and more.

FOOD & WINE

You already know that traveling to Italy means eating well. Learn more about what to eat while you you’re in Italy, from seasonal foods and festivals to regional cuisine and wine.

CULTURE & LIVING

Beyond art, architecture, food, and wine, Italy boasts traditions that have become the foundation of Western civilization. Italofile gets a closer look at Italy’s contributions to religion, music, agriculture, craftsmanship, language, literature, sports, and more.

NEWS & STORIES

Italofile strives to keep up with current events in Italy. But it’s also a place for more personal, in-depth stories about traveling around, living in, and writing about Italy — the highs, lows, and everything in-between.

ABOUT ITALOFILE

My name is Melanie Renzulli and I love Italy. I built Italofile to showcase everything I’ve learned (and am learning) in 20+ years of writing guidebooks about Italy.
